Nokia today initiated a charger exchange program, in which consumers owning certain Nokia-branded chargers manufactured by a third-party supplier are recommended to exchange these chargers for free replacements.

Mass-market appeal of touch-screen device signals evolution in mobile industry
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading mobile phone provider, announced that sales of the Samsung Star, its hugely popular touch-screen mobile phone, have surpassed 10 million units, just six months after its release. The Star (model number S5230), launched in May, reached this sales milestone faster than any other mobile phone in Samsung’s history.
By becoming the sixth Samsung mobile phone to sell 10 million units earlier this month, the Star eclipsed the record of the E250, a classic slider, which took 10 months from its release in November 2006 to reach the 10 million unit landmark.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced revenues of 35.87 trillion Korean won on a consolidated basis for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009, an 18.5 percent increase year-on-year.
Consolidated operating profit for the quarter was 4.23 trillion won, a 185.8 percent increase year-on-year and up 67.8 percent from the previous quarter. Income before income taxes reached 4.62 trillion won on a consolidated basis. Net income, on a parent company basis, was 3.72 trillion won.
In its earnings guidance disclosed on October 6, Samsung estimated third quarter consolidated revenues would reach 36 trillion won with an operating profit of 4.1 trillion won.

After bringing to market a unique approach to the fight against cybercrime with the award-winning Norton Internet Security 2010 and Norton AntiVirus 2010, today Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) unveiled data proving the effectiveness of the powerful new protection model codenamed “Quorum,” now available as part of the Norton 360 version 4.0 beta. The upcoming version of Symantec’s fast and light all-in-one security suite features improvements to PC tuneup, backup and other aspects of the product. Norton 360 beta is Microsoft Windows 7 compatible, as are the recently launched Norton Internet Security 2010 and Norton AntiVirus 2010.
“Basic security is not enough for today’s complex threat landscape,” said Charles Kolodgy, research director of Security Products at IDC. “Consumers are facing an environment of online threats that are fast increasing in number and evolving in scope to put their identities and finances at risk.
