Epson, a world leader in digital imaging, has won global recognition for its sales of 3-Chip Liquid Crystal Display (3LCD) projectors and the design of its products from a reputed research firm and a prestigious, international design panel.
In February 2009, renowned international market research firm, Futuresource Consulting Ltd affirmed that Epson, had for 8 consecutive years (2001 to 2008), been the global leader in projector sales. In 2008, Epson’s market share had expanded by 17.09% (versus 2007), achieving a commanding 20.62% share of the digital projectors market world-wide.
In South and Southeast Asia, Epson 3LCD projectors lead the market with 15.2% share of a highly fragmented market of more than 30 competing brands. Epson believes that its success in the projection market is attributed to the technological superiority of 3LCD, its comprehensive range of projectors products, and its excellent after-sale services.
For instance, to ensure unparalleled visual realism from the demands of home theatre enthusiasts, Epson launched a full High Definition (HD), 1080p projector, the Epson EH-TW4000 in December 2008 that is able to achieve a stunning contrast ratio of 75,000:1 – one of the highest in the industry to date. For business applications – where portability and brightness remain key purchasing criteria – Epson offers a range of wireless, ultra-portable projectors, like the Epson EB-1735, which weigh less than 2 kg, and is able to achieve brightness levels of 3,000 ANSI lumens and more.
“Sales and presentation applications, which are the fastest growing applications in the business and institutional markets, will continue to be the major driving force for the growth for Epson 3LCD projectors”, says Ed Bonoan, Epson Philippines Senior General Manager, Division Head for Sales and Marketing. “As a technology leader in the Philippines, Epson remains firmly committed to our mission of exceeding expectations by launching more cutting-edge digital imaging solutions this year.”
Epson Innovations win 7 Prestigious International Forum Design Awards
In December 2008, 7 of Epson products were also accorded with the highly acclaimed International Forum (iF) design awards.
These products include the following:
1. Epson EMP-400W (short-throw 3LCD projector)
2. Epson StylusTM Office T40W (micro-business inkjet printer)
3. Epson StylusTM Office TX600FW (micro-business inkjet printer)
4. Epson StylusTM Photo TX700W (photo inkjet printer)
The International Forum Design is an independent institution which is highly revered globally as a window on the latest technological developments and trends for over 50 years. It evaluates products from a holistic and customer-centric perspective. Its main judging criteria include design quality, workmanship, innovativeness, environmental compatibility and functionality.
Based on a region-wide survey, conducted by international research firm Saffron Hill in 2007, while 85 to 95% of customers in the consumer and business printer segment ranked brand equity and reputation as the most important factors influencing purchase; ‘advanced features’ and ‘attractively design’ were other important factors (84% and 70% respectively). These findings were consistent with the gravity of factors that influenced the purchase of projectors in this region.
“Epson is proud to be recognized as a foremost manufacturer and designer of cutting-edge innovations in this year’s prestigious iF awards”, asserts Mr. Yoshida Junkichi, Senior Director of Epson South and Southeast Asia. “This honored recognition highlights Epson’s keen understanding of the demands in high standards of both advanced features, and attractive design in digital imaging innovations of this region and around the world. I believe that as we continue to invest effort and resources into strengthening our core technologies, channel relationships and service capabilities, we will continue to exceed the expectations of our customers.”
