First, we had the experience of moving our mouse around wirelessly, making the gaming or surfing experience a little less tangled. Then it was followed by the wireless keyboard and soon one can enjoy music with wireless headphones allowing you to dance your way while listening to your favorite track.

Advances in technology has allowed us to untangle ourselves from a myriad of computer peripherals that used to be dependent on the cumbersome wires to make them simply work. Nowadays, we can work effortlessly without the need to ‘plug in’.

Reaching for the Clouds

Cloud computing is gaining significant traction as a new IT delivery model with potential business and financial benefits. Because cloud computing is still relatively new, organizations are grappling with what this emerging delivery model is, what some of the potential barriers are, and how best to take advantage of it.

In the next five years, IDC expects spending on IT cloud services to grow almost threefold, reaching US$42 billion by 2012 and accounting for 9 percent of revenues in five key market seg¬ments. Software as a Service (SaaS) is the most mature offering in this area. New cloud services include a growing array of applications, platforms and infrastructure.
