SAMSUNG APPS RELEASES LIST OF 10 MOST POPULAR APPS

An application that turns the Samsung Wave (S8500) into a flashlight topped Samsung Apps’ list of 10 Most-Downloaded Apps from June 1 to mid-July.

Utility and entertainment apps dominated the chart, released today by Samsung Apps, the application hub for leading mobile phone provider Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. Magic Torch, which transforms your phone into a flashlight with four different screens — standard light bulb, ecological light bulb, neon light bulb, and white screen — topped the list as the most-downloaded application throughout all countries.

HP Hails ACF, PNP Drive vs. Fake Ink Manufacturers

Seven suspects involved in the production of counterfeit HP Inks and Supplies were arrested by operatives of the PNP-NCR Crime Detection Unit, in coordination with the HP Southeast Asia Anti-Counterfeiting (ACF) group.

The authorities seized 632 finished and 1,172 unfinished inks, 50 finished and 121 unfinished toners, 35 fake toner boxes, 2,000 ink security labels, 4,600 ink body labels, 1,515 counterfeit ink boxes, 1,000 counterfeit foil ink pouches, 6 refilling machines, 45 kilograms of bulk toner powder, and boxes containing thousands of assorted spares and parts, from separate raids conducted in 13 different locations in Paranaque and Makati recently.

Kido worm, Sality virus top June 2010 malware statistics, Kaspersky Lab says

The Kido worm and Sality virus continue to top the list of the most malicious malware for the month of June this year, according to a report by Internet security software company Kaspersky Lab.

Both Kido and Sality and their variants have been topping the list since the start of the year, having infected a total of at least 1 million PCs per month. However, the list almost did not change from the previous month.
