With over 600 exhibitors and more than 30,000 trade visitors from all over the world, this event is considered as Australia ’s largest ICT exhibition.

CeBIT Australia 2010 brought together experts who shared valuable insights on the ever-evolving world of ICT. They also discussed how the application of the latest technologies could shore up the progress and productivity of the participants’ businesses. Among the notable speakers were Dr. Werner Vogels, VP and CTO of Amazon Web Services, and Dr. Lutz Heuser, the Executive VP and Head of Global SAP Research at SAP AG. Dr. Vogels, who is responsible for Amazon’s technological vision, spoke about “Cloud Computing in a Broadband Environment”. Meanwhile, Dr. Heuser, an expert in Internet services, eLearning and business processes technology, discussed “A View of Tomorrow’s ICT World” during his keynote presentation.

A special Philippine Business Forum also took place during the three-day event, which was held at the Sydney Convention Center . Mr. Sanez, the CEO of BPAP, shared his insights on the current state of the IT-BPO industry in the country. According to him, the contact center sector proved resilient amid the recent financial downturn and grew over 20 percent in revenues last year. Mr. Sanez said that back-office and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) led this growth as companies built on excellence in voice customer services and ventured into more complex, higher-value services delivery from the Philippines . From the CICT, Commissioner Ibrahim dispelled the myths and discussed truths about the IT-BPO sector, while Ms. Coronel, President of PSIA, spoke about the growth and progress of the Philippine software industry. Ms. Coronel shared that the sector’s 2009 revenue reached $568M, and they hope to reach $1B this year and become a leading center in IT Excellence in Asia .

Globe Business’ Enterprise Sales Head Grace Castillo and Segment Marketing Manager Anne Co were able to highlight Globe’s domestic and global connectivity, as well as its support to the IT-BPO industry, during the networking night and the Philippine Business Forum. Likewise, they were able to generate interest and awareness for Globe Business’ data, internet, voice and managed services, as participant exhibitors at the Philippine delegates’ booth. According to Ms. Castillo, “We, at Globe Business, are privileged to participate as a telecommunications partner in trade missions such as CeBIT Australia . Through this, we hope that we are able to increase awareness about the Philippines and leverage our country’s competitive edge in the international business scene, especially for the Offshoring & Outsourcing industry.
