The widely popular Sony camcorder products, featuring cutting-edge user friendly technologies, was rewarded the top prize – GfK Philippines No. 1 Award.
The annual award presented by one of the largest retail technology research companies recognizes companies with the bestselling brands in the categories of Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances, Information Technology, Photo, and Telecommunications. This year’s award was based on GfK Philippines retail panel data from January 2009 to December 2009 and is a timely seal of approval for Sony Philippines.
“Sony Philippines is the best selling camcorder brand based on our retail audit for 2009. Its innovative and user-friendly camcorders have captured the increasingly competitive consumer market. Despite the emergence of low-end and inexpensive camcorders, Sony has remained to be the top-of-mind brand by consumers. Sony is still the no. 1 camcorder brand for three consecutive years,” said Glenn Pantig, GfK Sr. Account Manager for Convergence Technologies.
GfK Country General Manager, Jake Savellano, together with Glenn Pantig and Grace Patdu, awarded the No. 1 certificate which provides a formal recognition of the top selling brand to Sony.
While presenting the award, Glenn Pantig said that the win reaffirms Sony’s position as the leader in the camcorder product category.
“As the leading research house in retail technology, we have seen that companies must stay one step ahead of the sophisticated Generation Y consumers, who have higher expectations and are very demanding. Manufacturers must meet these requirements and offer more. We congratulate Sony for their great achievement especially with the constant challenge of holding a competitive position in the marketplace. The No. 1 Awards are presented to brands in each country within the Asia Pacific region, including Australia and New Zealand.
