Philippines’ Toon Creator Awards Winners Announced

PHILIPPINES, December 2010 – Cartoon Network and Hewlett-Packard has announced the winners of the 2010 Toon Creator Awards. The winner was selected from over 160,000 animations created by kids across the Asia Pacific Region, including individual and school entrants from the Philippines.

The Philippines’ individual country winner is 11-year-old Warner Cunanan who won for his entry titled Chowderlot’s Kingdom: Intro, a thrilling short animation combining characters from his favorite Cartoon Network show Chowder.

Independent research firm deems Internet Explorer 9 as most secure browser

Independent information security research and testing organization NSS Labs recently released a report demonstrating the progress made by Internet Explorer against socially-engineered malware. According to the report, Internet Explorer leads the industry in protecting users against malware with Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) blocking 99-percent and Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) blocking 90-percent.

Moreover, Internet Explorer, which has blocked over 1.2 billion malware and fishing attacks, blocks almost five times more malware threats than Firefox, nine times more than Safari, and 33 times more than Chrome.

CICT and BPAP Statement on Cyber Sex Story

The Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) would like to clarify that commercial cyber sex is not in any way part of the BPO or Outsourcing Industry as mentioned in some media reports.

Both CICT and BPAP issued the clarification after some media reports on incidences on cyber sex came out which referred and compared the illegal practice to “Outsourcing” and “BPO”.

BlackBerry App World Now Accepting Apps for BlackBerry PlayBook

Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today opened the BlackBerry App World™ vendor portal to begin accepting BlackBerry® PlayBook™ apps from developers. Avaya Channel Partners Predict Strong APAC Growth in 2011

Avaya, a global leader in enterprise communications systems, software and services, today revealed a very positive outlook for the enterprise communications and collaboration industry across Asia Pacific, with the announcement of the results of a survey conducted among delegates attending the annual Avaya Connect Asia Pacific Partner Conference in Macau.

The survey asked delegates prior to their arrival at the event to comment on the general business environment and trends they see across the Asia Pacific region for the communications and collaboration industry. In an overwhelmingly positive response, 78% of attendees viewed the general business environment as either more or much more positive than a year ago, and fully 97% expecting business growth for themselves in 2011. Indeed almost 2 out of 3 respondents (64%) predicted their business would grow in the high single or even double digits in the coming year.
