2 FunGuys from Makati Go Global with Mobile App Company

“2 FunGuys” is set to capitalize on the multi-billion dollar mobile app and social gaming industry while generating high-paying jobs for Pinoy game developers based in the Makati studio. 2 FunGuys Inc. is the result of a joint venture of two leading gaming studios, 2XL Games of Phoenix Arizona and FunGuy Studio. The partnership will tap into the growing global demand for smart phone and iPad apps.

With more people using their iPhones, Androids and iPads as game consoles, CEO of 2XL Games Robert Johnson says “The joint venture is a direct response to market demand. To be competitive, we need to develop new and compelling content for these devices.” The experienced teams at FunGuy and 2XL Games have developed hit PS3 and Xbox 360 games, and mobile apps such as 2XL Super Cross, Ricky Charmichael Motocross Matchup, Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad, XGames SnoCross, Baja Edge of Control, Trapezoid, SqwishLand, ActionJetz and more, with 11 million app downloads and online game registrations.

The global app market is projected to reach $25 billion by 2015 according to a research firm’s report. North America currently leads the global app market with Americans downloading and spending more money on apps than any other global demographic, while Asia dominates the free app market. 2011 sales of mobile apps are projected to exceed $8.8 billion.

The joint venture will further extend the reach of the companies into the fast-growing North American and Asian market place where demand for smartphones and tablets is rapidly expanding. As Johnson said, “The opportunity to develop new and original content and to work with other companies to develop content is huge and the internationalization of our business will align us with global trends.”

“We are also seeing a lot of activity in the commercial sector,” said co-founder Darwin Tardio. “The demand for companies wanting to develop web and mobile apps for their business is exploding and nobody knows the design and user experience of these devices better than a game studio. This gives us a clear edge to develop compelling apps in sectors such as retail, hospitality, service sectors and enterprises where timely information delivery is a key factor of success.”
