Canon wins two Anvil Awards

Canon Marketing (Phils.), Inc. won two Anvil Awards for its programs, Canon GreenNation and Canon PhotoMarathon last February 24, 2012 at the Anvil Awards night held at Edsa Shangri-la Hotel.

Entered under the category of Public Relations Programs for Environment, Science & Technology, Sustainable Development, the Canon GreenNation Program received the Anvil Award of Merit for successfully expanding from a collection program for Canon ink cartridges and toners to a complete ecological program, partnering with other organizations and supporting various conservation initiatives. Among the number of these successful efforts is the Sagip Agila project in partnership with the Philippine Eagle Foundation and Environmental Education program with the Miss Earth Foundation.

Canon PIXMA is the No. 1 Inkjet Printer Brand for 2011

The IDC (International Data Corporation) recently announced that Canon PIXMA Printers is the No. 1 Single Function Printer and Total Inkjet Printer Brand for 2011 based on unit sales.

IDC said that Canon was able to dominate the inkjet printer industry last 2011 with a convincing 36% market share.  Aside from leading in the whole industry composed of SFP (Single Function Printers) & MFP (Multi Function Printers), IDC furthermore added that Canon also topped the market share of Single Function printers with an impressive 42% share.  Data from IDC also indicates that Canon had a strong finish in the Multi-Function printers, grabbing 30% share.

Intel Expands Smartphone Portfolio: New Customers, Products, Software and Services

Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini at the Mobile World Congress 2012

Intel Corporation President and CEO Paul Otellini recently detailed a number of announcements and plans aimed at expanding the company’s smartphone product portfolio and customer ecosystem, including strategic new engagements with Orange, Lava International Ltd., ZTE, and Visa.

“We are very pleased to add new, important customers and capabilities to our phone offerings today. We remain focused on delivering exciting new features and outstanding performance to smartphone customers around the world.” said Otellini.

Otellini made the announcements during an Intel news conference at Mobile World Congress. He also highlighted the company’s plans to expand its smartphone SoC and communications product roadmaps for the performance and value smartphone market segments.

Fresh from unveiling its new lineup of prepaid promos available via *143#, Globe Telecom launches its load notification service that will guarantee a worry-free experience for its growing prepaid subscriber base.

Globe Prepaid Load Watch is a free and automatic load notification service triggered by specific load usage scenarios and other related transactions. Using the Globe Prepaid Load Watch, prepaid subscribers will receive alerts on their mobile phones when their load reaches P5 or less, when they have insufficient balance to make calls or send a text message, or every end of a chargeable call, among many others. These alerts will also indicate the remaining load amount, expiry date and time, as well as promo balance.

HP and Project: Brave Kids give new hope to kids with cancer

HP IPG donates one million pesos to Project: Brave Kids to help fund the treatment of kids with cancer. HP Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) recently made the world a little brighter for children with cancer as it donated 1 million pesos to Project: Brave Kids last January 27 at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC). The amount was taken from the proceeds of HP IPG’s The Giving Three promo, and will be used to fund sponsored chemotherapy treatments for three young recipients selected by Project: Brave Kids.

“HP continues to give back to the community through various humanitarian projects like The Giving Three promo. For this project, we aim to inculcate a positive attitude and develop the well-being not just of the children but also of the parents. Helping them gives them the message that you understand their situation, which in turn gives them courage,” says Erwin Creencia, Inkjet and Web Solutions Market Development Manager, HP IPG.
