SAP to arm small and midsize enterprises with real-time analytics powered by SAP HANA

13 Feb

SAP AG announced two new offerings that will deliver the benefits of the SAP HANA platform to small businesses and midsize enterprises (SMEs). With analytics powered by SAP HANA for the SAP Business One application and SAP HANA, Edge edition, SMEs will be able to leverage powerful in-memory technology from SAP.

“This comes at an opportune time for the country since the growth is highly dependent of the contribution of the SME sector to the national economy. With the SME sector being a crucial factor to economic performance the need for SMEs to be competitive directly impacts the country” said Jennie Ligones, SAP Country Manager. “This innovation will be most welcome among local SMEs that look to competing on a global level.”

In today’s highly competitive business climate, immediate access to and analysis of all operational data ultimately determines the success of an organization. Companies demand insight into business operations as they happen in order to be able to react quickly to changing market conditions. These new offerings from SAP aim to provide SMEs with real-time access to information tailored to their individual requirements. SAP HANA is in-memory data management software on SAP partner hardware.

Analytics is an aspect of growing importance among Philippine SMEs. Since most of SAP’s customers in the Philippines actually belong to this space, we are looking forward to seeing SAP HANA being adapted by the local SME sector as this can greatly benefit their business growth and competitiveness,” said Patrick Tan, SAP Channels Director.

Analytics powered by SAP HANA for SAP Business One are intended to provide a cost-effective new combination of a special product version of SAP HANA designed with the needs of small businesses in mind. Targeted at companies using SAP Business One, the channel-only solution aims to offer a small-scale, easy-to-use SAP HANA-based application including best in class operational reporting with SAP Crystal Reports software. Ramp-up is planned to begin at the end of February, with general availability planned for later in 2012.

SAP HANA, Edge edition, is an indirect offering compiled specifically for reselling in the midmarket. The software targets SAP customers in the midmarket — typically those running the SAP Business All-in-One solution. An additional value proposition is offered when the version of SAP HANA for midsize companies is bundled with SAP BusinessObjects Edge Business Intelligence (BI) software, with the combination delivering insight in real time to midsize organizations. SAP HANA, Edge edition, is now globally available via enabled and authorized partners.

For a quick and predictable implementation of SAP HANA, customers and partners can use SAP Rapid Deployment solutions, including the SAP ERP rapid-deployment solution for operational reporting with SAP HANA. SAP Rapid Deployment solutions delivered by SAP partners include preconfigured software, partner implementation services and end-user enablement resulting in fast time to value with easy-to-deploy and integrated solutions. Another offering is SAP CO-PA Accelerator software, which allows significantly faster processing of complex allocations and essentially instantaneous ad hoc profitability queries. It belongs to accelerator-type usage scenarios in which SAP HANA becomes a secondary database for SAP products such as the SAP ERP application.
