Microsoft and Liongsgate, in partnership with leading design and developer agencies theNerdery and Ignition Interactive, will be bringing fans of Suzanne Collins’ widely popular novel series, The Hunger Games, a one-of-a-kind experience with the launch of the The Capital Tour, an immersive companion site to the movie that extends the film to the web and includes exclusive content from director Gary Ross and the movie itself.
Filipinos can now tap into the HTML5-powered Hunger Games companion site, showcasing a tour of the Capitol in Panem and offering fans exclusive content and experiences to prepare them for the movie’s premiere on March 23.
With the release of the Hunger Games Capitol Tour, people will be able to see the advantages of using HTML5, coupled with the innovations of IE9. The site has features like site pinning, which makes it easier for a user to get to their destination. The site demonstrates that aside from being able to create immersive, innovative experiences online with standard-based markup one can also experience acceleration capabilities.
“Microsoft is committed to continuously provide users with innovative technologies as we want our consumers and partners to realize the opportunities that IT can offer to them,” said Mae Moreno, Product Manager for Windows Client, Microsoft Philippines. “We recommend that visitors use IE9 to take advantage of full hardware accelerations and site pinning of the Capitol Tour site. We at Microsoft strongly believe in HTML5 and IE is leading the way for stretching the limits of HTML5 and providing immersive web experiences,” Moreno added.
The partnership with Lionsgate aims to bring a one-of-a-kind Internet experience to the users of IE9 and the fans of the novel, The Hunger Games. Through this partnership, Microsoft is pushing the web forward by demonstrating the power of HTML5 and taking the advantage of the full power of the PC with hardware acceleration. The company worked with designers and developers over the past year to pioneer new experiences on the web.
Today, Microsoft is introducing The Capital Tour to show the future of movie sites as it offers a fully immersive and interactive experience powered by HTML5.
