In a recent gathering, Skil won the “Red Star Design Award” – one of the most prestigious honors in design, jointly conferred by the Beijing Industrial Design Center (BIDC) and China Industrial Design Association (CIDA). It is considered to be the Oscars of the Chinese design community.
For the past six (6) years, over 20,000 products have entered the China Red Star Design Award, including Bosch, Dell, Motorola, 3M, Panasonic, and other Fortune 500 companies. Skil, locally distributed in the Philippines by Bosch, was chosen from more than 5,000 candidates by the screening committee that is composed of 12 global design, economy, and media experts.
The Skil 9620 was chosen based on a 5-point criteria: Innovation, utility, economic benefit, environment-friendliness, and craft & aesthetics. Clearly, the Skil 9620 has bested its counterparts through an accelerated integration of design and manufacturing, while fostering domestic and global collaborations through design. Skil Brand Manager Martin Valenzuela says that “this award is something that we are very proud of. Year after year, we strive to bring the consumers only the best innovations and this year through the Red Star Design award, we proved that we are on the right track”.
