Globe empowers DSWD project officers to efficiently transition CCT beneficiaries into self-reliant families

Leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom has provided the Department of Social Welfare and Development with mobile gadgets and SIM cards to equip DSWD project development officers nationwide with a more efficient communication means to reach out to their beneficiaries.

Globe, through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, Bridging Communities, donated 40 units of Samsung Nari E2230, 10 units of Nokia X101 and 50 Globe Bridging Communities SIM with discounted call and text rates.

The donation is part of the DSWD-Globe Partnership on Sustainable Livelihood which includes computer-literacy training sessions and business linkages for beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer program. CCT is the national government’s social development strategy which offers conditional cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education.

“We are always on the lookout for opportunities to provide critical enabling technologies to help the national government and its agencies see through their mandate. We believe that by giving them the necessary communication tools, we could contribute in making their programs a success,” said Rob I. Nazal, head of Globe Corporate Social Responsibility.

“We are thankful to Globe for this generous donation. These gadgets will definitely enhance our capability to deliver public service. Our Project Development Officers need to be equipped with this mobile equipment since they are the ones responsible for the successful implementation of our programs and projects,” said Dinky Soliman, DSWD Secretary.

Project Development Officers handle the design, formulation and development of various DSWD projects in different parts of the country, particularly CCT. The program currently has more than 3 million household beneficiaries in 79 provinces, thus, the need for DSWD to strengthen its communication capability in monitoring and evaluating the projects.
