Sony extends helping hand to typhoon victims via its Para sa Pinoy Project

Sony Philippines extends its support and care to the victims of the recent calamitous events which have dampened the country’s spirit through Para sa Pinoy, a relief support project. Aiming to benefit those families who were greatly affected by the recent monsoon & flooding in Metro Manila, the program consists of two components, namely the Bravia Discount Replacement and Gadget Donation Programs, and runs from August 18 to September 18.

With the Bravia Discount Program, those whose Sony Bravia televisions were heavily damaged due to the recent natural disasters can avail of a cut rate of P2,000-P,4000 when they replace their units with selected BRAVIA models. The 32BX will have a cut-price of P2,000 while the 40BX450 and 46BX450 will be discounted by P,3000 and P4,000, respectively. All markdowns will be deducted from the SRP and will be honored in all authorized dealer outlets within Luzon only.

Chikka founder rallies new innovators

Chikka founder Dennis Mendiola brought the little gem of advice during his keynote at UP Diliman, for IDEASPACE – the technology and entrepreneurship hub organized by the MVP-led Metro Pacific Investment Corporation. The group is looking to award the most innovative ideas not only with funding but also the cooperation of business, industrial and technical experts from leading companies such as Smart, PLDT, Meralco, and Philex Mining.

A real need among Filipinos, Mendiola said, was the primary reason for the birth of the Internet-based text messaging solution we all know now as Chikka Text Messenger.

Globe Telecom supports MozillaPH Roadshow

Leading telecommunications provider Globe Telecom gives its support to MozillaPH, a Mozilla-supported community initiative in the country which is set to conduct a roadshow on August 22 to promote HTML5 technologies and to showcase the upcoming FirefoxOS, an open-source mobile operating system for mobile and tablet devices.

With the new FirefoxOS, developers can easily create cross-browser applications for the web and portable devices such as smartphones and tablets using HTML5, a markup language for structuring and presenting web content. With HTML5, developers would be able to handle multimedia and graphical content on the web without having to resort to proprietary plug-ins and platform-specific application programming interfaces (APIs). This means more opportunities to create stimulating and interactive websites as well as better and more powerful applications.

Epson Portable Label Printers out in the market

Epson LabelWorks LW-300

Epson, a world leader in digital imaging solutions and also an established OEM stationery label printer maker, has made available in the Philippine market its first series of portable stationery label printers under its own “Epson” brand.

Epson’s move is to form part of a comprehensive set of labeling solutions for its customers – ranging from large volume industrial labeling with the Epson SurePress L-4033 launched last year, to the stationery labeling market. The new printers are the handheld stationery label printers (Epson LabelWorks LW-300: accepts 9mm and 12mm tape widths; and Epson LabelWorks LW-400: accepts 9mm, 12mm and 18mm tape widths) and the PC connected stationery label printer (Epson LabelWorks LW-900P: accepts 9mm, 12mm, 18mm, 24mm and 36mm tape widths)
