Globe Telecom President and CEO Ernest Cu has been recognized as one of the top 5 finalists for the prestigious 2012 World Communication Awards CEO of the Year Category.
Cu emerged in the top 5 from the 10 shortlisted CEOs of telco companies around the world, joining the CEOs from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co., France Telecom-Orange, Verizon Communications, and Vodafone.
The CEO of the Year is based on a poll conducted among Total Telecom readers from a list of finalists made up of CEOs of a telecoms operators or service providers, who best managed their organization during the period January 1, 2011 to April 30, 2012.
As president and CEO, Cu has been the driving force behind Globe Telecom’s continued success. With Cu taking the reins, Globe sustained its growth momentum with a record high in revenues and increased number of subscribers in 2011. Globe also reported a record-setting revenue top line for the 1st quarter of 2012, capping most significantly, the 7th consecutive quarter of market share gain over competition.
Cu was also recently named CEO of the Year (Service Provider) by Global business research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan in their 2012 Asia Pacific ICT Awards ceremony. Globe Telecom on the other hand was named by Frost & Sullivan Philippines Telecom Service Provider and Broadband Service Provider of the year.
The World Communication Awards organized by Total Telecom is the most prestigious award within the telecoms industry. It celebrates the success of operators worldwide, and receives an attendance of around 600 people all of which are senior telecoms executives from the biggest operators around the globe. Winners of the World Communication Awards 2012 will be announced at the gala dinner to be held at The Lancaster Hotel in London on November 13, 2012.
