HTC Brings “One Fighting Championship: Pride of the Nation” to Manila


HTC, the global maker of smartphones, brought to Filipino audiences “One Fighting Championship: Pride of the Nation”, a mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament featuring the best Filipino and international MMA fighters last August 31 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. One Fighting Championship is Asia’s largest MMA organization, with the largest Pan-Asian media broadcast.

1st Caltex Supa Strikas Cup held in Smokey Mt.

From kicking cans to soccer balls, (photo above) about 120 kids from around the Smokey Mt.-Tondo area formed 7 teams and competed in the 1st Caltex Supa Strikas Cup football tournament, organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Manila and Gawad Kalinga (GK), in partnership with Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants.

Philippines’ original man of steel asserted his supremacy in iron distance triathlon while the queen of the southern roads stamped her mark as national marathon champion in a successful year for endurance athletes.

The running boom continued and triathlon thrived, with numerous local races and international events held across the country in the year that was.

Filipino named Most Outstanding Jaycee President of the World

Next-generation Filipino entrepreneur Roberto “Toby” Claudio, President of Toby’s Sports and founder of running specialty store Runnr recently received the distinction of being the Most Outstanding Junior Chamber International (JCI) Chapter President of the World in the recent JCI World Congress 2011 held in Brussels, Belgium.

In winning the award, Claudio bested more than 5000 other President’s of JCI chapters from cities all around the world. The award recognizes Claudio’s outstanding leadership of JCI Manila, the first JCI chapter in Asia and oldest leadership development organization in the Philippines, in fulfilling the mission of the JCI during his term in 2010. The JCI, founded in 1944, is a worldwide association of young active citizens who lead projects in the areas of Business, Community, Individual and International Development in order to create positive change. The criteria for the award rest on several factors such as general management, leadership skills, as well as his chapter’s accomplishment of numerous community development projects.
