Effortlessly Wireless

First, we had the experience of moving our mouse around wirelessly, making the gaming or surfing experience a little less tangled. Then it was followed by the wireless keyboard and soon one can enjoy music with wireless headphones allowing you to dance your way while listening to your favorite track.

Advances in technology has allowed us to untangle ourselves from a myriad of computer peripherals that used to be dependent on the cumbersome wires to make them simply work. Nowadays, we can work effortlessly without the need to ‘plug in’.

Brother boosts productivity and efficiency of M. Lhuillier Phils.

When the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) of the Philippines , back in 2004, required all companies operating with money transfer business to have a copy of the customer’s identification card and information with every transaction, leading financial services firm, M. Lhuillier, was faced with the task of providing the right printing solutions to its branches nationwide.

Albert Bantog, division manager of materials and management division of M. Lhuillier, said, “We took into consideration the uncertainties of AMLC requirements (hard copy of documents or electronic file) in deciding what machines to procure and deploy to our locations for compliance purposes.”

Bantog also said the company has been spending a lot of money in purchasing different types of machines for different kinds of jobs.

“For example, a single employee is using desktop computer, a separate unit for phone, fax machine and printer in order to process large volumes of day to day business transactions. Imagine those equipment on top of the tables with little space for clerical works preventing good working conditions,” said Bantog.

With this chaotic scenario, Bantog said that M. Lhuillier conducted a total cost of ownership analysis to asses what are the requirements for the job. The company considered the cost of purchasing the machine, print volume, warranty servicing agreement and consumables to determine the success or failure of its imaging and output strategies. “We compared different brands of multi-function machines to meet the forecast printing, faxing, copying and imaging requirements,” said Bantog.

After conducting a thorough evaluation, Bantog said that Brother products really matched up to the company’s expectations with the print quality of its printers the same as the original for the least cost or no cost at all especially when scanning documents for attachment.

“Brother machines are not only significantly less expensive but are also significantly easier to use. Brother products are robust, easy to maintain and most of all have low cost of ownership. I describe Brother products as an all-purpose player. It is like a bunch of equipment put together in one machine,” he said.

Productivity-wise, Bantog said that Brother products contributed a lot in boosting the productivity of M. Lhuillier by providing the right productivity tools the company needs.

“I could scan and digitize documents and could send them instantly as email attachments to the intended recipient. I could send fax documents from my PC without having the need to print out any hard copy. There’s productivity gain when time management is improved through less time spent in every job done,” he said.

Bantog said the acquisition of Brother machines has also increased the employees’ efficiency, and compliance. Since speed is essential to the company to serve customers better, he said the Brother machines have enabled the company to deliver faster services to their clients.

“Common sense dictates that replacing every printer with departmental multifunction systems would impact both productivity and morale. The capabilities of Brother MFCs provide us excellent efficiency at the most effective cost and of course speed is another factor. The faster we deliver our services to our customers the more customers we could serve. From the moment we acquired our machines from Brother it has increased our employees’ efficiency and productivity. That’s why customers keep on coming back because of the service level we offer that is beyond customer expectation and satisfaction and that is why M. Lhuillier is the Numero Uno ng Bayan,” concludes Bantog.

Aside from print quality, Bantog said another factor that sets Brother apart is the excellent customer support. “All too often these days companies tend to dismiss customers after the initial product purchase. We were finding that working with a variety of vendors was taking too much time to support, which was dramatically impacting our ability to provide service efficiently at a reasonable cost. We are very pleased with how Brother delivers excellent service. “

Since the year 2000, M. Lhuillier has been using Brother fax machines. It started using Brother MFCs since 2005 and has since bought over 900 units of DCP115 / DCP 130 / DCP 150 as well as fax machines. The company is also using the HL 2040 laser printer, Fax 555, 827 and the Laser Fax 2820.

Established in the 80’s, M. Lhuillier Phils. now has more than 1,000 strong locations. M. Lhuillier has added more services like loans, lending, life insurances, real estate, fruit preserves, fine jewelry and even money transfers to ease the public’s financial burdens, thus meeting one of M. Lhuillier’s visions to bring financial services to the Filipinos nationwide. M. Lhuillier Phils. is not only servicing the Filipinos domestically but globally as well.

Brother visits an orphanage

Not everyone in this world gets to be with their family on special occasions like New Year and Christmas, just like the orphans in White Cross Children’s Home in San Juan . Though these children may not have family that doesn’t mean they can’t celebrate Christmas with kind-hearted people who reach out to them.

Brother International Philippines celebrated Christmas in a different way as they treated the children in White Cross Children’s Home at San Juan to tons of laughs, food, games, and gifts in a Christmas party dubbed “Christmas at Your Side.”

“This is our own way of giving back to God for the blessings He gave us this year. Together with our dealers, we thought it’d be better to do something different this year by sharing our blessings to God’s children who are in need of a family’s love and care,” Brother International Philippines’ assistant general manager Glenn Hocson said.

The program started with a prayer followed by a song number from the kids of White Cross. Brother Philippines and its dealers also joined the fun as they presented a special dance number and participated in the parlor games with the kids of White Cross.

Mely Vargas, executive director of White Cross Children’s Home expressed her gratitude for Brother’s effort to spend time with them. “We are thankful that there are companies like Brother who never forget about the less fortunate in spite of all the blessings they get. These kids still have a long way to go with their lives and the simple act of showing them that they are loved and cared about would definitely help them live better lives in the future as they know that they have a family at their side.”

After the parlor games, the children were served yummy treats including spaghetti, hotdogs and marsh mallow on sticks, barbeque and “bottomless” ice cream.

Brother general manager Toshiaki Isayama who personally handed Brother’s Christmas gifts to the children said, “it has been a very humbling experience for me and my Brother team as well as our dealers. We thought it’s time to do something different this Christmas. It is our honor to have brought happiness to this place these children calls their home. I hope that they will remember that Brother is always at their side.”

Brother sees 50% growth in corporate market by 2008

Japanese IT peripherals giant Brother fortifies its position in the printer market, particularly among corporate users, by expanding its product line. Its corporate segment currently accounts for 20 percent of the company’s total local revenues while the retail sector accounts for the remaining 80 percent.

To tap the corporate market, Brother recently introduced new color laser and multifunction printers designed specifically for small and medium businesses (SMBs) and large companies. Equipped with Brother’s own print engine, these products feature innovations that address real customer needs – print quality, speed, usability, connectivity, security, network management and administration.

“We see a lot of opportunities in addressing the corporate printer business in the Philippines . The introduction of our new color laser printers and multifunction centers will enable us to break in the market segment that we didn’t focus on before,” declared Toshiaki Isayama, general manager of Brother International Philippines.

Brother has formed corporate sales teams to focus on the corporate market. The company is also conducting regular sales trainings and seminars for its business partners and corporate resellers to equip them with the right tools and strategies.

While the corporate business of Brother is relatively young, the company already has a number of notable distribution partners in the Philippines, particularly Proton, Hytech, Digitron, Solid Business, S1 Tech, TCA, OWH, NEXUS, BisMac and Compufax.

“We aim to increase our growth in the corporate market by as much as 50 percent,” says Isayama. “Our strategy would be gradual and straightforward. We intend to achieve our targets in the corporate sector by 2008.”

Top officials from Brother Japan and New Zealand – Tetsuo Watanabe, Brother International Singapore and Philippines Managing Director and Graham Walshe, Brother International New Zealand Executive Chairman – even visited the Philippines to share best practices and ideas to help the Philippine office succeed in the corporate space.

Brother’s strong heritage of technology and innovation dates back in 1908. Today, Brother is known for its customer-centric products and services inspired by its “At Your Side” motto. Brother has 19 production facilities in 7 countries particularly Japan , U.S.A. , UK , China , Korea , Taiwan , Malaysia and Indonesia . Its R&D Facility is located in Nagoya , Japan . It also has 41 sales facilities in over 30 countries worldwide, with products sold to over 100 countries.

Brother Print and Scan..Wireless!

Wireless technology gives us the convenience and mobility for staying connected with our family, friends, the office and the Internet. The rise of Bluetooth and Wi-fi has given birth to wireless products such as keyboards, mouse, speakers, and headsets. Even the computer itself has gone wireless.

For all the convenience that wireless technology brings, a global leader in home and business IT peripherals, Brother International Philippines, introduced their new Wi-Fi ready Multi-Function Center printers.

For instance, the company’s latest product like its MFC-9840CDW already offers wireless printing and wireless scanning capabilities. At P54,990, this product is a 6-in-1 wireless network ready business color laser Multi-Function Center (MFC) that is able to print, fax, copy, scan, PC fax, and internet fax. This new MFC’s wireless scanning and wireless printing features uses Wi-Fi connectivity and could operate for single user or multiple users using a Wi-fi access point. This product is ideal for companies who want to produce professionally printed color documents.

Another one is the MFC-665CW, a 9-in-1 Inkjet Multi-Function Center that not only sports the print, fax, copy, scan, PC Fax, and memory card reader functions but also comes with an LCD screen to view your pictures, an answering machine, a telephone handset and is still wireless network ready. At P14,950, this inkjet MFC is the best choice for executives who needs an all-in-one printer in their office that’s exclusive for their own use only.

According to Glenn Hocson, assistant general manager of Brother International Philippines, wireless technology not only offers complete mobility but that the ability to print and scan wirelessly is a practical innovation that we at Brother have decided to introduce to the market, particularly for notebook PC users who want a convenient way to print and scan their documents and avoid the hassles of messy wire connections” said Glenn.

“For offices with multiple users, these types of machines deliver flexibility through a wireless network that allows users to print or scan using just a single printing and imaging device,” he added.

Wireless printing also offers the freedom to work wherever you want. Instead of having a designated printer for each PC or laptop, or a mesh of wires scattered around the workplace, every PC and laptop can now be connected wirelessly to just one printer located anywhere in the room.

Same thing goes with wireless scanning for individuals or groups who can’t stand those tangled cables that connect one to the other. Scanning will be more convenient because users no longer have to connect the wires before using it.

Wireless printing is a logical step in building a convenient and hassle-free workplace. Aside from giving mobility to workers and improving their productivity, it also improves the flexibility of facilities with the ability to quickly adapt to new opportunities and needs in a highly competitive business landscape.

Wireless technology allows the placement of printers anywhere in the facility and instant connection to the network. This way, companies can save large amounts of time and money because the cost of running network cables is eliminated while workers will be able to complete their work efficiently.
