SAP launches SAP Extended Business program

SAP announced that it has launched a worldwide initiative, the SAP Extended Business program, to further ease collaboration among SAP channel partners and other non-partner companies in order to benefit its growing number of small and midsize enterprise (SME) customers.

The program is institutionalizing an already existing cooperation model in the SAP channel. Members of the SAP Extended Business program become part of the company’s wider ecosystem by partnering with valued-added resellers (VARs) under the SAP® PartnerEdge™ program. The role of SAP Extended Business program members is to identify and promote opportunities in the SME space during all phases of sales and implementation as well as promoting, marketing and implementing the selected SAP and partner solutions in collaboration with an authorized VAR. The manner in which SAP Extended Business program members and VAR partners cooperate and provide compensation is at their discretion; the commercial relationship between VAR and customer remains unchanged by the new program.
<!–more–>
Under the SAP Extended Business program, members will be granted the appropriate access to SAP systems, resources and training to support their business relationship with their VAR. Employees of members of the SAP Extended Business program are entitled to participate in the same training programs SAP provides to its authorized VARs, to ensure that their organization is properly enabled to take on SAP business opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction.

With the new global program, SAP is further strengthening its ecosystem targeted at SMEs, which currently comprise more than 2,100 partners of various categories, by helping to create a partner network and enable it to scale business quickly. The program also aims to help companies – those working in the broader SAP ecosystem today or those looking to start a new SAP business – stay up-to-date with SAP software and technology, and effectively work with SAP partners to deliver SAP solutions for small businesses and midsize companies.

Involved parties can benefit from the following:

– The authorized SAP channel partner can offer a broader and more flexible range of solutions and services to SMEs, thus delivering best-fit solutions and quicker implementation with expanded geographical coverage and additional implementation and sales resources at lower costs.
– SAP Extended Business program members can align with an established authorized SAP channel partner in order to broaden the outreach and create more awareness of its offering, thus targeting and attracting a larger volume of prospects, increase revenue from additional services and earn commissions from related sales activities. Furthermore, members of the program benefit from designated product information and trainings.
– The customer benefits from the broader solution and services portfolio offered by the SAP channel partner of choice, as well as from the greater flexibility in meeting its specific demands.

Participation in the program is voluntary, free of charge and open to companies working with the SAP Business All-in-One solution as well as the SAP® Business One application. There are currently more than 30 SAP channel partners in the ecosystem maintaining particularly close business relationships with more than 100 third-party companies.

Current program participants include: Seidor, a VAR in Spain; Infracom Consulting, a VAR in Italy; and All-for-One, a VAR in Germany. Prerequisites to become a program member are a qualification by SAP, a signed agreement with an SAP reseller and dedicated resources. The resale of SAP solutions is not permitted and remains the sole business arena of SAP resellers.

Mariwasa Siam optimizes its business operations with SAP’s Business One

Mariwasa Siam, the country’s leading manufacturer of ceramic tile, partners with SAP Philippines through ABM Computech Enterprises, Inc. an affiliate of Bayantrade Group of Companies, with SAP’s Business One software to optimize Mariwasa’s overall business operations by improving its departmental functions. ABM is SAP Philippines’ licensed reseller of SAP Busines One. This comes after the company embarked on a restructuring program that saw the need for a more efficient system. What the company needed to do was to integrate their key business processes into one business process that eliminates the need for maintaining several databases.
<!–more–>
As a key player in the industry for the last 40 years, Mariwasa Siam employs over 900 employees and a turnover of over PhP2 billion pesos with the most extensive network in the country. Prior to the company’s acquisition of Business One, the company maintained two (2) databases, two (2) different versions and two (2) locations. Furthermore, because much of the work of keying in data was done manually, hence reporting was very complex and time-consuming.

“We just completed a restructuring program and saw the need to implement a system that is more efficient for our operations. After being informed of SAP by our parent company, we chose Business One because it combines all critical business processes in one software.” said Emilie Maramag, vice president for finance of Mariwasa Siam.

During its initial phase, SAP Business One was applied to Mariwasa’s sales, human resources and finance operations. Its second phase will see the integration of the company’s manufacturing processes into the Business One system. With its integration of Business One, Mariwasa Siam hopes to realize better profitability and business efficiency. Also, staff productivity was increased because Business One eliminated redundancy of work.

“We are confident that Mariwasa will realize its full potential with the integration of Business One. We expect to see the full benefit of this new business system to our business in general.” said Maramag.

“We are very excited with this partnership with such respected market leader like Mariwasa Siam. We are looking forward to being an integral part of Mariwasa’s growth and future success.” Said Jennie Ligones, SAP Philippines country manager.

SAP Announces Strong Growth in Asia Pacific

SAP’s operations in the Asia Pacific region continued its strong forward momentum in the third quarter of 2007, with client wins averaging to eight new customers each day in yet another quarter of double-digit growth across the region.

Year-to-date, SAP Asia Pacific Japan has been the company’s fastest growing region, with 26 percent software revenue growth (in constant currency) compared with the previous comparable period. Total revenues for the third quarter in Asia Pacific grew 20 percent year-on-year (in constant currency) to €318 million. SAP Asia Pacific Japan refers to the company’s operations in Asia, including Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

“SAP Asia Pacific Japan has had a tremendous year so far,” said Geraldine McBride, President and CEO, SAP Asia Pacific Japan. “The signing of 539 new customers is a testament to the strength of our offerings and the quality of our people in the region. “Our customers are strongly motivated to grow their business and want to derive real value from the systems they implement – SAP directly addresses those needs by offering the best value products, developed and implemented by a very talented global team,” said McBride.

SAP Asia Pacific Japan’s growth can be attributed to the consistent performance its offices across the region, including that of its Philippine office, which landed key customer wins such as SEAIR, Air21, Sta. Lucia, Alaska Milk Corporation and Norkis throughout the year, and closed out Q3 by securing Honda Cars Makati. With the continued high adoption of SAP Business One particularly in Cebu, Davao and Cagayan de Oro, SAP Philippines looks forward to increasing its provincial customer base further with the help of its implementation partners.

SAP Philippines reports a large increase in its SME customer base, as with the entire regional operations of SAP.

“Key to our success has been the continued embrace of SAP by fast-growing small and midsize enterprise organizations, all keen to compete globally. More than half of all new signings in the region are SME customers,” said McBride.

SAP’s global SME business contributes 31 percent of SAP’s worldwide total order entry on a rolling four quarter basis. SAP’s global goal of 100,000 customers by 2010 will be underpinned by the SAP Asia Pacific Japan commitment to triple its small and midsize enterprise (SME) customer base.

SAP’s indirect channel partners also continued to play a major part in the region’s success this quarter. Building on its commitment to empower small and midsize customers with new ways to leverage software for profitable business growth, SAP worked with its partners to roll out 16 new additions to the portfolio of qualified SAP® Business All-in-One solutions in Q3. SAP’s Powered by NetWeaver ISV partner ecosystem has continued to grow to more than 150 members. Working with SAP, they have already delivered close to 180 certified applications available for sale worldwide.
