STI runs the extra mile on 10.10.10

The 6,000-strong delegation of STI made waves in the 5k category of the recently concluded A Run for the Pasig River 10.10.10. A second time participant, Team STI now outgrew the less than a thousand participants who joined in last year’s Pasig River Run.

STI Seals Partnership with Amadeus

Amadeus, a leading travel technology partner and transaction processor for the global travel and tourism industry, recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with STI to focus on further improving the extensive hands-on training of its students in the field of Hospitality and Tourism.  The MOA was signed on May 24, 2010 at the STI Academic Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

As part of the MOA, Amadeus will provide STI with its enhanced version of the Amadeus Learning City, an advanced e-learning website which offers users a variety of self-paced courses in reservations, fares, and auto-ticketing.

STI Wins Anvil Award of Excellence


Driving Education Where IT Matters, STI Foundation Inc’s Mobile School campaign, won the Public Relations Society of the Philippines’ (PRSP) Award of Excellence at the 45th Anvil Awards held on February 26 at the Isla Ballroom of EDSA Shangri-La Hotel.

Close to 300 entries all vying for a much coveted spot were received by the PRSP last year. Each went through a two-stage screening and evaluation process. Leading the initial screening were accredited PR professionals which looked primarily at technical compliance on the requirements.

The National Youth Convention (NYC) is back! This year, it’s amplified with more unforgettable experiences, fun approaches to applicable learning, and exciting educational innovations, which open more doors for STIers nationwide to explore and enjoy.

This one-of-a-kind educational caravan, spanning across the country, is highly anticipated by more than 30,000 STI students nationwide. The NYC extends the academic learning of the students outside the traditional classrooms to discover the latest trends in technology, acquire the most in-demand and job-ready skills and provide a venue to interact with fellow STIers from different campuses nationwide.

STI, Google, Inc. kick-off partnership in 13th National Youth Convention

STI, premier provider of ICT-enhanced education in the Philippines , recently forged alliance with worldwide web giant, Google, Inc. in the 13th National Youth Convention.

Geared towards improving education in all medium, STI and Google are now working in partnership to further enhance the education system in the Philippines . Now, with STI students, staff and faculty starting to manage their own Google mail accounts, communication and research inside the community have increased efficiency.

In the recently concluded 13th National Youth Convention (NYC), an annual innovative learning and career planning nationwide caravan of STI, Google Philippines Country Consultant Aileen Apolo served as one of the speakers. In her talk, Aileen discussed basic techniques and new applications of Google that the academe can benefit from.

The 13th NYC, with the theme “STIer: A Brand of Excellence,” began November last year in Baguio City, and has gone to Cebu, Bacolod, Kalibo, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro, Ormoc and was capped by a two-day event in Metro Manila. In total, more than 20,000 participants attended the event.

STI’s job placement partners e-Telecare, Convergys and the Youth Entrepreneurs Society (YES) also participated in the mini-job fair set-up for the graduating student participants. The 13th NYC is in partnership with Google, Inc. and Micro Data.

STI Formally Breaks Ground on STI Academic Center in Global City

STI, the largest network of schools in the Philippines, recently held the ground breaking ceremonies of the STI Academic Center at Bonifacio, Global City.

Led by STI President and CEO Monico V. Jacob and STI Executive Committee Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco, STI officials and students were present at the site during the formal ceremonies.

Jacob expresses that this new facility of STI “is the perfect emblem of our 25th anniversary as a pioneering educational institution.” He goes on to say that, “STI is honored to be able to educate thousands of well-rounded students with the best quality of ICT-enhanced learning in a world-class education establishment.”

The STI Academic Center is a 2,632-square-meter property leased to STI by the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) for 25 years. The eight-story STI Academic Center will house a research and development center, amphitheater, state-of-the-art gymnasium and highly advanced information technology, healthcare, business, and hotel and restaurant management facilities for students.
