ViewSonic expands display heritage with new line of HR digital picture frames

According to Parks Associates research, more than two-thirds of digital photos taken are never printed or displayed, keeping memories bottled up on memory cards and computer hard drives. ViewSonic Corp. sets photos free from the hard drive and brings them to the coffee table with the introduction of easy-to-use, digital picture frames line.

The company’s first picture frames line — the 7-inch widescreen DP701W4WH, 8-inch widescreen DF88W-523 and the traditional 8-inch DF87G533 — are affordable, stylish and versatile, and were meant to provide high-quality display for consumers to show off digital photos that may have never seen the light of day.

“From wedding days and a baby’s ‘firsts’, to family vacations and birthdays, displaying personal moments through high-quality displays is a natural next step for ViewSonic,” said Jeff Volpe, vice president of marketing, ViewSonic Americas. “Expanding our portfolio of leading-edge display technology to include picture frames is the latest example of how we are meeting digital lifestyle trends and improving how people view and share content.”

Pictures can be uploaded to the frames with a USB cable or directly from a camera’s memory card. With 128MB of internal memory standard, the frames can display and rotate nearly 106 1.2-megapixel photos. The user can browse and display photos individually, view thumbnails or create an image slideshow with transition effects.

The widescreen 7-inch DP701W4WH brings photos to life with an 800×480 resolution, 220 cd/m2 brightness and a 400:1 contrast ratio (typ) that are ideal for crisp and vibrant images. The DP701W4WH creates a smooth progression from image to image, while the white acrylic bezel makes it a perfect fit within the modern décor of today’s homes and offices. The frames can display JPEG or BMP files and also include clock and alarm functionality.

The widescreen 8-inch DF88W-523 and traditional 8-inch DF87G-533 give photos more screen space and personality with audio and video capabilities. These frames display JPEG, BMP and M-JPEG files, and the DF88W also displays MPEG2 and MPEG4 files. Showcasing photos with accurate color, the DF88W offers 800×480 resolution and 300:1 contrast ratio while the DF87G offers 800×600 resolution and 500:1 contrast ratio (typ). With 250 cd/m2 brightness (typ), images are bright and clear. Both frames already include an integrated speaker for MP3 sound, a remote control and clock, alarm and calendar functionality.

Beyond personal photo displaying, these frames are easy to use, which makes them ideal for businesses. Rather than ordering new signage for retail locations, medical offices and education facilities, organizations can quickly change sales and welcome signs by uploading new images to the frame to save paper and time.

All of ViewSonic’s digital frames are backed by a one-year limited warranty and will soon be sold through authorized ViewSonic resellers, distributors, retailers and e-tailers. ViewSonic expands boundaries of color with new LED display

ViewSonic® Corporation’s commitment to state-of-the-art technology is again displayed with the launch of its 22-inch widescreen VLED221wm desktop monitor, which features the world’s first 12000:1 dynamic contrast ratio in a LED desktop display. Taking LED backlight technology down to size, the VLED221wm provides color experts, such as graphic designers, multi-media editors and gamers, with color precision and reproduction never before seen in an LED monitor.

“ViewSonic has a long-standing reputation for delivering leading-edge technologies that shatter industry standards,” said Jeff Volpe, vice president of marketing, ViewSonic Americas. “The VLED221wm surpasses the expectations of discerning consumers and professionals who demand the true-to-life, crisp colors and contrast ratios prevalent in high-definition content and want to make green purchasing decisions.”

The VLED221wm offers consumers high-quality color reproduction by leveraging OptiColor™ technology to display 118 percent of the color gamut based on the National Television System Committee (NTSC) guidelines. In comparison, most CRT and LCD monitors on the market today only display 70 to 80 percent of the NTSC’s range of colors. This allows graphic designers to more accurately match colors to printed materials, and gives photographers and video editors access to a broader color spectrum. The VLED221wm is ideal for high-end design applications such as CAD/CAM, desktop publishing and moving production, which must achieve the highest level of color performance.

The stylish, glossy black display supports a native 1680×1050 resolution, boasts a 5ms response time and features an industry-leading dynamic contrast ratio of 12000:1 (typ), making it the ultimate monitor for life-like high-definition content. The display is equipped with dual analog and digital inputs and integrated stereo speakers to connect seamlessly with other professional systems such as soundboards.

The environmentally friendly design is not only mercury free, but also results in lower power consumption of 38W, which is important for consumers looking to reduce energy costs and their footprint on the environment.

The VLED221wm comes with a pixel quality guarantee that exceeds the International Organization of Standardization’s requirements for consumer protection. ViewSonic promises immediate replacement if the display has three sub-pixels locked in the on/off position, or if there is any combination of four defective pixels. ViewSonic’s guarantee offers the world’s highest level of consumer protection against “dead” pixels.

The ViewSonic VLED221wm is Windows Vista™ Certified and will be available in February for the estimated street price of $799. Sold through authorized ViewSonic resellers, distributors, retailers and e-tailers, the display is backed by a three-year limited warranty on parts and labor. The VLED221wm is compliant with the strictest safety and environmental standards, including TCO and ENERGY STAR®, and is made with environmentally friendly materials.

ViewSonic launches new CASA LCD series from 17’’w to 22”w

ViewSonic Corp., a leading global provider of visual display products, launches its latest CASA series of LCDs from 17’’ to 22’’ with innovative DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) technology, which enhances LCD contrast ratio by up to 2000:1. ViewSonic’s new CASA series LCDs include the 17-inch VA1716w, 19-inch VA916 and VA926, 19-inch VA1916w and VA1926w, 20-inch VA2016w and VA2026w, and the 22-inch VA2216w and VA2226w, which are all certificated with Windows Vista .

With these new displays, ViewSonic is now able to provide one of the most comprehensive LCD monitor product lines with affordable pricing and innovative technology to satisfy every PC user’s needs.

Alan Chang, the Managing Director of ViewSonic Asia Pacific region, says “As the leading LCD provider in the market, ViewSonic strives to provide only the most innovative LCDs. With the launch of our CASA series LCDs from 17-inch to 22-inch widescreen displays, we hope to provide price-friendly products with 2000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. We also expect this series to enable users to easily experience ViewSonic LCDs’ high quality performance.”

ViewSonic CASA series LCDs feature DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) technology, which can automatically detect image signal and intelligently control backlight brightness to make the black “blacker” in a dark scene, and the white “whiter” in a bright environment. One primary advantage of DCR technology is it intelligently controls LCD panel backlight. When an image is viewed in a dark room, the drawback is that a dark scene that does not contain small areas of superbright light may get blown out. By intelligently modulating the backlights, a user gets to experience lower black levels while watching darker movies or video games. This provides for a better user experience, and overall front of screen performance.

A second advantage of DCR technology is its power-saving feature. With DCR automatically detecting image source then adjusting LCD panel back light, back light power consumption therefore differs in back light usage. Compared to conventional LCDs, whose backlight is usually always on, the voltage in LCDs with DCR technology becomes more flexible based on its contrast ratio.

Finally, the ViewSonic CASA series LCDs can provide faster response time with ClearMotiv II technology while still demonstrating smooth video performance and delivering broadcast-quality, fast-action video for gaming, entertainment and graphics-intensive applications.

The VA1716w is ViewSonic’s 17’’ widescreen LCD with a stylish slim-bezel design enhanced by a contrast ratio of up to 2000:1 and with 5 millisecond response time. For conventional 19’’ LCD users, ViewSonic has the VA916 (non-DVI) and the VA926 with 5 millisecond response time. Both the VA2016w (non-DVI) and the VA2026w are 20’’ widescreen LCDs that feature a 5 millisecond response time. Also, the new ViewSonic series includes 22’’ widescreen LCDs, the VA2216w (non-DVI) and the VA2226w.

With these comprehensive widescreen LCD monitor product offerings, end-users now have a choice as to the most suitable LCD to fit their needs. More importantly, ViewSonic’s newest LCD series only offer the best price/performance in LCDs, so they should always be your first choice.

The CASA LCD models will be available soon through ViewSonic’s authorized distribution outlets, with the VA2026 now available at a suggested retail price (SRP) of P13,570 while the VA2226 costs P15,870. For pricing and other information about these products, call Innovista Technologies at 723-4273. ViewSonic launches innovative DCR technology

A leading global provider of visual display products recently introduced an innovative technology for wide screen LCD monitors that can greatly enhance contrast ratio by up to 2000:1.

ViewSonic, the no. 1 display brand in the US , has recently incorporated a new technology in its latest LCD monitor product offerings. Called DCR (or dynamic contrast ratio), this feature can automatically detect image signal and intelligently control backlight brightness — making the black “blacker” in a dark scene and the white, “whiter” in a bright environment. It also automatically adjusts gray level and enhances an LCD monitor’s gray level performance range.

When there’s a need to display a dark image, DCR can underpower the backlight lamp while proportionately amplifying the transmission through the LCD panel. The primary advantage of DCR is that it intelligently controls LCD panel backlight. By modulating the backlights, a user is able to experience lower black levels while watching darker movies or video games. This helps provide for better user experience and overall front of screen performance.

Another advantage of DCR technology is its power-saving capability. Owing to DCR being able to automatically detect image source then adjust LCD panel back light, the back light power consumption will differ from back light usage. Compared to conventional LCDs with the backlight always on, the voltage of LCDs with DCR technology is flexible based on the contrast ratio.

The latest DCR technology can enrich image scale level and provide end-users the best color performance when seeing video or gaming. Also, for professional users, DCR technology can provide the real image performance quality for graphic designer and multimedia editing.
