Canon executes relief operation for victims of typhoon Pablo

In the last quarter of 2012, Mindanao was left in a dreadful state after supertyphoon Pablo hit the island.  The infamous tropical cyclone resulted in almost 2,000 deaths, $15.1 billion worth of damages, and 5.5 million people affected.

Canon Photographers unite for Banaue Rice Terraces rehabilitation

The Ifugao Rice Terraces, one of the Philippines’ most popular landmarks, has suffered severe damages due to the recent typhoons that visited the country. Several government and non-government groups have contributed on the rehabilitation of the site, including imaging giant Canon.

Canon Marketing Philippines volunteer employees, Canon Advocacy Team volunteer photographers and other individuals who recognize the need for action to revive the rice terraces will be travelling to the site itself to kick start the campaign.  Through efforts by Canon EOS Ambassador John Chua, volunteers will now be able to meet and interact with the local residents and work together to help rebuild the terraces.  But more than just helping to rebuild the national landmark, Canon hopes that this small step will help to revive the traditional Filipino spirit and culture of working together-“bayanihan”.

Canon bags European Product Awards

Imaging leader Canon has received three 2011-2012 European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) awards for being the best products in their categories.

Canon’s EOS 600D DSLR earned European Camera 2011-2012 honors, EF70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM telephoto lens received European Professional Lens and Legria HF M41 got European Camcorder.

2,000 compete in Canon PhotoMarathon

Canon staged its sixth and largest PhotoMarathon with more than 2,000 professional and amateur photographers competing in the final leg of the event at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City.

Jerome Ross Lacbayan of Cainta was declared winner of the DSLR category and received a DSLR EOS 5D Mark II while Jackielou Garcera of Cubao, the top pick in the point-and-shoot level, received a DSLR EOS 600D. Both grand champions were also given round trip tickets to Busan, South Korea.

Canon grants a wish

Life for Ellaine Castronuevo has only begun to unfold. Like most 14 year olds, she has only started to get a taste of adolescence. But aside from having to deal with the daily struggles of a teenager, Ellaine has the challenge of defeating her own Goliath.

Ellaine has been diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, a rare type of blood and bone marrow cancer that has also stricken Filipino Rap icon Francis Magalona.
