Citi Volunteers in the Philippines Commemorate Company’s 200th Anniversary on Annual Global Community Day

Citi employees are building 200 homes in Tanza, Navotas for families displaced by Typhoon Pedring. Over 2,000 volunteers mixed cement, laid hollow blocks and helped construct houses for four Saturdays since May 26.

Citi highlighted its ongoing and long-standing commitment to helping communities by marking its 200th anniversary last June 16, with its 7th annual Global Community Day. In 92 countries around the world, more than 100,000 Citi volunteers – the largest number of participants ever – have gathered in the days leading up to and including Global Community Day to participate in 1,300 service projects that benefited local communities.

1st Caltex Supa Strikas Cup held in Smokey Mt.

From kicking cans to soccer balls, (photo above) about 120 kids from around the Smokey Mt.-Tondo area formed 7 teams and competed in the 1st Caltex Supa Strikas Cup football tournament, organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Manila and Gawad Kalinga (GK), in partnership with Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of the Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants.

Canada’s Parliamentary Secretary Deepak Obhrai visits TELUS-GK Village 1

TELUS International Philippines (TIP) welcomed the Ambassador of Canada to the Philippines Christopher Thornley and the Canadian Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Deepak Obhrai during their visit at the TELUS-Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village 1 in Pook Masagana, Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

The guests were welcomed by the children of the GK community through song and dance presentations at the village’s community center. Officials from the Embassy of Canada were also given a tour of the site and had the chance to meet with village residents.
