“Where’s my doctor?” emerges as 3rd Startup Weekend Manila winner

Medical practitioners-turned-entrepreneurs bag first place with “Where’s my doctor?” web app

Are you looking for a doctor? Or do you want a quick diagnosis on what your ailment is? These are typical concerns of an ordinary Pinoy who usually do not know who to consult when illness suddenly attacks.

Two teams who joined the 3rd edition of Startup Weekend Manila created solutions to such worries. “Where’s my doctor?” and “HealthTxt” emerged as 1st and 2nd prize winners, respectively for their simple but useful initiatives. “Where’s my doctor” also bagged the People’s Choice Award.

Globe launches GCASH App for BlackBerry smartphones; iPhone app next in line

Globe Telecom, through its internationally acclaimed mobile commerce service GCASH, announced a first in the industry with the launch of the GCASH mobile app for Blackberry smartphones, now available for free download via the BlackBerry App World while Apple iPhone GCASH app is to be launched this March 2012.

Using the GCASH application is simple. After subscribers downloaded the application, all they need to do is click on the GCASH icon on the Main Menu of their BlackBerry to launch the application. There is no need to go to any website to transact. Internet connection is also not needed. The app is very accessible and easy to use. Subscribers only need to enter the details of their transaction together with their Mobile PIN (MPIN) as prompted by the application to conduct any GCASH transaction. There is no need to memorize any keywords or access numbers.
