IP-Converge Enhances Services by Implementing IPv6

Internet data center, telecommunications and cloud services provider IP Converge Data Services, Inc. recently announced that its network infrastructure now supports the use of IPv6 (Internet protocol version 6) for customers’ Internet connectivity requirements. The new Internet protocol allows the allocation of more IP addresses to various devices and is said to enhance the quality of service of Internet providers that use it.

An IP address is a numerical label assigned to a device (e.g., computer, printer) connected to a computer network and uses Internet Protocol for communication. This label has gone through various designs and architecture since the dawn of the Internet. Currently, the most widely used version is a 32-bit number (or four sets of 8-bit numbers) known as IPv4. However, large commercialization and individual usage of the web over the past few years has resulted in the near-exhaustion of IPv4 addresses. Hence, it is imperative for providers to shift towards the next generation Internet protocol, IPv6.

Globe announced PH’s first-ever terrabit-level Data Center

Globe Telecom has deployed the Philippines’ first-ever terrabit-level Data Center, which gives customers more efficient and high-powered computing and communication solutions.

The company announced it has upgraded its Data Center network facilities with Cisco’s CRS-3 Carrier Routing System and the Nexus 7000 Series Switches. This upgrade connects the company’s suite of Cloud Solutions to the world with high capacity 10Gbps connections, enabled by terabit-class routing and switching through its CRS-3 routers and Nexus 7000 switches. This enhancement further ensures that applications run by Globe Business customers will not be degraded by passing through bottlenecks on the network side.

Globe unveils PH’s first ROADM and 40G network

Globe Telecom announces the completion of its core data network upgrade to ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer) to support the increasing bandwidth demand of its enterprise customers. This makes Globe the first carrier in the Philippines to deploy ROADM as well as 40G optical links over its Broadband Access Service Network (BAX).

ROADM is the latest technology adopted by Globe, which enables its network to be flexible and cost-efficient when delivering ultra-high bandwidths such as 2.5G, 10G and 40G. With ROADM, Globe is able to respond faster to unpredictable customer demands that require quick turnaround times for provisioning and upgrade. It also assures customers of scalability, as well as enhanced manageability and monitoring of circuits. Furthermore, since ROADM uses optical switching, end-users will benefit from lower latency and higher availability as it bypasses the optical to electrical to optical conversion used in today’s networks.
