Private sector asked to revisit ops, invest on health care

Philippine businesses are called to fast-track their efforts for maternal and child health care in the final mile to achieving MDG 5.

With only three years left to attain the Millenium Development Goal 5 known as the reduction of maternal mortality ratio (MMR), the private sector was encouraged to use its resources to immediately address the growing gap of poor maternal and child health care in the country.

Brother International rallies for Save the Marikina Watershed project

Brother International teamed up with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) to reforest the denuded Marikina Watershed through Adopt a Hectare tree planting activity.

A total of 625 Cupang, Macopa and Dungon seedlings were planted in Barangay Calawis, Antipolo City with the help of 36 employee volunteers.

Asia’s leading international airline, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. has joined the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the largest corporate-led development foundation in the country.

As one of the newest members of PBSP, Cathay has become part of a consortium of over 240 small and medium enterprises and large member companies committed to the practice of Corporate Citizenship. According to Cathay Pacific country manager Ed Higgs, “We are happy to be part of PBSP. For many years, Cathay has been investing in communities where we operate and has been involved in environment and education projects throughout the region. In the Philippines, we hope to scale up our social involvement with PBSP.”
